Reflection of Theory and Practice

Through our research, the FAD group consistently encountered works by Timothy Rasinski and Nancy Padak. To enhance our understanding of fluency, accuracy, and decoding, we turned to the silly sisters, Gail Boushey and Joan Moser, who assisted us in our presentation model.

To effectively present the knowledge that we have constructed, we have chosen to utilize multiple strategies, including pairing and sharing; small, collaborative group work; whole class discussion; as well as individual synthesis.

After our intense collaboration session, we agreed that utilizing multiple methods to present our information would foster an effective coaching approach to teaching balanced literacy.
